船本清司の美しい水彩ガッシュ画ガッシュ画とはグワッシュ（Gouache）は、水彩画の一分野として扱われてきましたが、船本清司はその独自の技法を表すために「ガッシュ画」と名付けました。ガッシュ画は不透明水彩画に属し、不透明水彩絵具の特徴である「塗り重ね」を最大限に活かす技法です。紙を濡らしてにじませたり、乾いた層の上に描いたりと、幾度も重ねることで独自の表現が生まれます。塗り重ねの回数は作品ごとに異なり、決まった数はありません。

What is Gash Painting Gouache has long been considered a part of watercolor painting. However, Seiji Funamoto named his unique technique “Gash Painting” to express its distinct character. Gash Painting belongs to the field of opaque watercolor. It makes full use of the special quality of gouache paint—the ability to be layered repeatedly. By wetting the paper to create soft blends, or painting over dried layers, the artist builds up the surface many times. The number of layers is not fixed; it varies depending on the work and its final expression. This layering process is the essence of Gash Painting, giving each piece depth, richness, and individuality.
